Las ofensas de stack horizontal y vertical tienen sus ventajas y sus desventajas en el viento y la decisión de jugar con un esquema en vez de otro depende de cuánto su equipo puede estar "en la misma página" cuando está ejecutando su ofensa.<br />Cuando mi equipo primero hizo la transición de un stack vertical hacia uno horizontal en el 2005, nos costaba jugar con viento y muchas veces volvíamos a jugar con el stack vertical cuando estaba venteando mucho y teníamos dificultades para anotar. En ese entonces, yo estaba convencida que un stack vertical era mejor para atacar en el viento porque el énfasis en movimiento lateral del disco en los dumps y swings le dificultaba a la defensa poder jugarse del todo al lado abierto, permitiendo oportunidades para que los cortadores se desmarcaran con "timing" y para que los manejadores generaran movimiento con lanzamientos que quiebren la fuerza. Me parecía que en nuestro stack horizontal cuando había viento, las marcas fácilmente prohibían los cortes hacia adentro de los cortadores y los manejadores se quedaban sin opciones.<br />Mientras el stack horizontal de mi equipo ha madurado y se ha vuelto más dinámico, ahora pienso que este ofrece más posibilidades para avanzar el disco en condiciones de viento que un stack vertical. Una ofensa horizontal permite más flexibilidad para que los manejadores ataquen el disco agresivamente y avanzar yardas. Esta ofensa sirve no solamente para aprovecharse de los defensas al fondo de la cancha que estén mal parados, pero también permite una forma fácil de avanzar el disco por la cancha ya que los pases cortos y dishies entre manejadores no son afectados tantos por el viento. Adicionalmente, bastante movimiento de manejadores combinado con el movimiento coordinado de cuatro cortadores llenando y ocupando múltiples carriles de cortadores puede encontrar huecos en una defensa que haga mucho poach y también puede aislar jugadores defensivos a lo profundo de la cancha, sin que tengan ayuda defensiva cercana. He encontrado que ofensas de stack vertical tienden a ser menos efectivas en contrarrestar los poaches y clams que la defensa propone cuando hay bastante viento.<br />Mientras ahora prefiero jugar en una ofensa horizontal, reconozco que su fortaleza reside en la compleja combinación de coordinación e improvisación. Pienso que un equipo debe practicarlo durante mucho más tiempo para que se puede ejecutar efectivamente en cualquier condición, que si lo estuviera practicando con un stack vertical. En el segundo partido, la UN en Medellín venció al Politécnico Jaime Isaza Cadavid.<br /><br />El equipo de Ultimate de la UN en Medellín nació hace 5 años y cuenta con dos grupos en categoría A, masculino y femenino. En Categoría B juega otro equipo masculino. La participación de la UN en esta disciplina deportiva ha significado, entre otros reconocimientos para la UN, la clasificación como Campeón Nacional de Ultimate Playero y segundo lugar por dos años consecutivos en el Torneo de Ascundeportes.<br /><br />En la capital antioqueña el Ultimate entró en auge como deporte hace nueve años y, aunque aun resulta desconocido para muchos, ha logrado sumar adeptos y seguidores. Esto se explica, según Walter Jaramillo Gil, instructor del equipo de la UN en Medellín, porque “a pesar de ser un juego de competencia, prima la amistad, el respeto y el compañerismo”.<br /><br />Para Óscar Taborda Ochoa, coordinador de Ultimate de Ascundeportes, “este deporte genera un cambio de actitud frente al rival, se basa en la filosofía de espíritu del juego, en la cual los jugadores tienen que ser responsables de la aplicación del reglamento mediante el diálogo, lo que implica una nueva mentalidad en los deportistas acerca de la forma de concertar sus conflictos”.<br /><br />Así mismo, Juan Camilo Valencia Quiceno, capitán del equipo de la Universidad de Caldas, destacó el auge de este deporte en el país y la posibilidad de que se abran espacios para fortalecer los lazos de amistad y competitividad entre las diferentes universidades del país. Belisario Aponte y Andrés López intercambian conocimientos y se inicia el proceso rápido de desarrollo de Ultimate en esta ciudad. Al principio fue difícil, pues las personas no conocían gran parte del reglamento y desconocían cosas del Ultimate como los layouts, el Stack y los largos.<br /><br />En agosto de 2000 equipos como 100 de cilantro, Pájaro-Trueno, UPB y UNAL aparecen en Medellín para participar en el primer torneo de Ultimate Frisbee, realizado en la Universidad EAFIT con la invitación especial de Mamoot de Bogotá el cual fue el gran ganador gracias a su preparación técnica, sus lanzamientos y formaciones Tácticas; todo esto hizo que el equipo bogotano sirviera de modelo y punto de referencia para los equipos de Medellín, los cuales desconocían todos los componentes importantes del Ultimate.<br /><br />En este mismo año MACONDO era un equipo conocido por tener gran fuerza y reconocimiento por su alto nivel de juego, es así como surge DAGA un equipo que prometía acabar con la hegemonía de macondo dentro de las finales del Ultimate colombiano.<br /><br />En el año 2001 y luego de un periodo fuerte de entrenamiento para los equipos paisas se realiza nuevamente el torneo en Medellin, esta vez invitando equipos bogotanos como Unisabana, Vets y Paraíso; de Medellín: Thunder, Kuata, Mambo, Gato. Porque desde hace muchos años, desde los abuelos y bisabuelos no sabemos que significa vivir en Paz<br /><br />... el Ultimate no es solucionar las diferencias con golpes o discutir un llamado insultando y agrediendo la integridad del otro. Que es tu compañero de juego, asi sea tu rival de equipo. Sin el No podrias jugar, sin el no podrias conocer y mejorar tu Espiritu de Juego.<br /><br />... el Ultimate no es la voz del maton del barrio imponiendo sus reglas ni la cizaga de los que no juegan pero predican basura desde el computador. Responsabilidad?<br /><br />... el Ultimate no es para cobardes y canallas que solo solucionan sus problemas con violencia o terror traicionero. Respeto?<br /><br />Nos llenamos de equipos nuevos y jovenes sin norte pero ya curtidos en la maña como herramienta de su juego. Equipos prevenidos con el otro pero desprevenidos para aplicar bien el reglamento. Honestidad?<br /><br />Jugamos un ultimate pobre en competencia y ciego en Espiritu que avergonzaria a cualquier espectador y mas cuando se le invita a observar un juego que privilegia la honestidad, la responsabilidad y el respeto por encima de la competencia y el ganar a toda costa.. <strong>Puedo competir y tener Espiritu de Juego, ese es el verdadero valor de un buen equipo de Ultimate</strong>.<br /><br />Colombia no es una isla en el Ultimate mundial. Ya nos hicimos conocer y nos tienen en la mira.
